SILENCE AND PRAYER…3RD PHASE
Silence and prayer… the Chapter Hall is deserted, the microphones have been turned off, the simultaneous translators are at rest…the atmosphere of the corridors, gardens, and the dining hall have changed. The whole of La Salle house, on Via Aurelia, has become transformed into a temple of prayer. The 44th General Chapter has entered into its 3rd phase -- SEEING WITH THE EYES OF FAITH.
The Capitulants are praying their experiences and re-reading the abundant amount of documents and conference papers that they have received. They are not doing individual retreats, but rather five days of walking with the Lord in order to enter more deeply into the challenges that the Institute faces at this time in its history.
The General Chapter is moving from the very important and necessary phases of “building community” and listening to a variety of diverse information to its 4th phase which will involve discussion and decision making.

INVITATION TO PRAYER
“Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am in there midst.” This week, these words of Jesus carry a special significance for Lasallians. WE ARE INVITING LASALLIANS FROM THE FIVE CONTINENTS to join the Capitulants in their personal prayer as well as in prayer groups for the intentions of the Chapter.

We are inviting you to join us in prayer using the daily texts and directives that the Capitulants are follwing on May 9 – 13. You will be able to find this information on the Chapter Web. (Booklet 5)
In doing this, we are following a tradition that was instituted by St. John Baptist de La Salle. In the next weeks, the Brothers will be voting on the Brothers who will fill the roles of Superior General, Vicar, and General Councilors. We continue to ask the Lord to be present with us. |
