Official Appointments: Dear Brothers,
Dear Friends, partners and associates in Lasallian mission,

I am pleased to announce officially the appointments that I have made in the past few months as well as those which will be effective in the coming months. I am greatly appreciative of the exemplary availability of all these Brothers to contribute their talents and hopes in favor of the entire Institute and the Lasallian Family and I also am grateful in a special way to these Brothers' Districts which have done so much in a spirit of interdependence so that these appointments were possible.

I would not like to let this opportunity pass without thanking also the Brothers who, in past years, have offered their valuable service to the Center of the Institute and who have now returned to their respective Districts. At the close of the 43rd General Chapter we officially thanked Brother John Johnston and the 1993 - 2000 members of the General Council. The Institute owes them a debt of gratitude and today I would like to thank particularly Brothers Pierre Josse and Raymundo Suplido for their excellent service as Delegates to Japan and Thailand, respectively; and Brother Ronald Gallagher, Secretary General; José Ivo Ullerich, Secretary for Formation; Joseph Le Bars, Sub-Director and translator; Andrew Steele, computer expertise; Vincent Rabemahafaly, assistant secretary for the Union of Superiors General. I thank all of them for their fraternal and effective service on behalf of the Institute. I thank also all those who currently continue to work in the General Services and in the Generalate; they often are not seen; they are "behind the scenes" but they are indispensable for the carrying out of Institute projects, which today are on the increase in the area of Association. We rely on each of you in a special way to make the challenges which the 43rd General Chapter has considered become reality.
