William Rafferty from the District of Great Britain made his Final
Profession at St. Helens in the north of England. William is a native of
Coatbridge in Scotland and a number of his family, including his father,
travelled from Coatbridge to the ceremony. At present, William is

traditional Scottish kilt. William made his Postulancy in the early
nineties in Half Moon Lane, London, with Br. Gerald Fogarty as
Director, and then went to the Novitiate in Griñon, Madrid, where he was
accompanied from his District by Br. Aidan Kilty (Formation Secretary).
Aidan was delighted to be able to take time off from Rome to attend the

Heuther
2002: The 2002 Huether Lasallian Workshop took place in Chicago,
Illinois, USA in late November 2002. The focus of the workshop was on
the visual and performing arts, and more than 250 administrators,
professors, teachers and students from the US/Toronto Region attended to
discuss and celebrate the arts.
This was the first Huether Workshop to be planned by a committee that
never physically met together. Through conference calls, faxes, and many
emails they managed to orchestrate a wonderful Lasallian experience.
Student dancers, singers, actors, musicians, watercolor and oil
painters, sculptors and poets contributed throughout the three-day
event.
During the workshop, the Distinguished Lasallian Educator Award was
presented to six outstanding teachers in the US/Toronto Region in the
field of visual and performing arts: Brother Richard Buccina, FSC from
La Salle University (Baltimore District), Louis Maffei from Bishop
Loughlin Memorial High School (LI-NE District), Dee Anne Short from
Bishop Kelley High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma (Midwest District), Robert
Sorrel from the College of Santa Fe (NO-SF District), James Deiotte from
De La Salle Collegiate Institute in Buffalo, (New York District) and
Joseph Antonisamy from La Salle High School, Pasadena, California (San
Francisco District.)
