News of the Institute and Lasallian Family
Rome, February 25, 2003 |
International Young Lasallians Council: Brother Superior and the
General Council announce the creation of an International Young
Lasallians Council that will study the propositions that emerged at the
International Symposium of Young Lasallians that was held in Québec in
July 2002 and will assist in the development of an International
Movement of Young Lasallians.
This International Council of Young Lasallians, coordinated by Brother
Vicar General, has been asked to assist the General Council in
strengthening the work happening with Young Lasallians on the local
level in the 61 sectors of the Institute [knowing what is happening,
helping others to know about "good practice" in the sectors, and
assisting where needed].
Our hope is that this new Council will also launch and/or coordinate an
international colloquium/symposium of Young Lasallians in 2005. One goal
of this assembly would be to provide, as Young Lasallians, new answers
to the challenges that we are facing as a planet, responding to the call
of Pope John Paul II at World Youth Day 2002: "Allow me to consign this
hope of mine to you: you must be the builders! . God is entrusting to
you the task, at once difficult and uplifting, of working with him in
the building of the civilization of love."
The members of the International Young Lasallians Council are as
follows:
1. Brother William Mann, Vicar General
2. Yanick Chamberland Richer, Region of Canada (Canada)
3. Brother Moses Abunya, Region of RELAF (Lwanga)
