Christian Brothers University of Memphis, Tennessee: Br. Álvaro Rodríguez Echeverría, Superior General, in a special ceremony on Wednesday, February 16, was awarded an honorary doctor of humane letters by Christian Brothers University of Memphis, Tennessee, USA. In the photo, Br. Álvaro is being awarded the doctorate by Brother Stanislaus Sobczyk, the President of the University.

Presentation of Certificates - CELAS Malta: Br. Sean Sellors Visitor of Great Britain and Malta in the presence of Br. Martin Borg, Coordinator of the Malta Sector, and Br. Dominic Rosso Director of CELAS, presented Certificates to 71 teachers who had finished a two-year CELAS Course covering the Spirituality, pedagogy and history of St. La Salle. Br. Sean congratulated our Lasallian partners for their dedication and perseverance throughout the Course. These courses are organised every year especially for new members on the staff of our Lasallian schools in Malta.

Centennial celebration of La Salle Central Technical Institute, Bogota, Colombia: On Ash Wednesday, February 9, a Eucharistic liturgy opened the centennial commemoration of La Salle Central Technical Institute. This opening ceremony was held at the Primate Cathedral of Colombia, and it was followed by another special celebration. La Salle Central Technical Institute is a public institution of higher education which was founded by French Brothers. The institution has had broad impact on technical education throughout the country, and it has been under the direction of the Brothers of the Christian Schools for eighty of the past one hundred years. The Brothers are guided by the pedagogy of Saint John Baptist de La Salle.

A new Rector at De La Salle University: On February 2, 2005, Brother Fabio Gallego Arias took over as Rector of De La Salle University in Bogota, Colombia. His mandate is from 2005 to 2007. The event was presided by Brother Jorge Enrique Molina Valencia, President of the Administrative Council and Visitor of the District of Bogota. In his talk, Brother Fabio stressed the 33 vital responsibilities for the formation of Lasallian professional.
