MALTA - Lasallian Day in Malta: As is customary at the beginning of the Scholastic Year the Staff of the Brothers' schools gathered in Malta. This year Bro. Michael from UK was invited to address the gathering. About 300 teachers and other staff attended the meeting. After a brief overview of the Life of the Founder, Bro Michael went on to elaborate on what a Lasallian is. With a very attractive POWER POINT presentation Bro. Michael captured the attention and interest of the audience.

The group then split into 20 Workshops to reflect on the topic of the day i.e. .... "MOVING FORWARD THE LASALLIAN HERITAGE".
In conclusion the groups each came back to the general assembly with one statement for action in the next scholastic year.

MEXICO - First Profession: For the Districts of Mexico, the month of July is one of great joy because it is during this month when Robe Day, at the beginning of the month, and First Profession, at month's end, take place. The summer, the Inter-District Novitiate of Mexico received nine young men from various places within Mexico. They received the habit on July 8 after having completed a retreat which dealt with the phase they were about to begin. Some four-hundred persons joined in on the celebration.

This number included Brothers, relatives, and friends. Toward the end of the month, on July 29, thirteen novices made their First Profession, having finished their novitiate experience. This event, too, was preceded by a retreat which included an in-depth look at the meaning of the consecration they were about to make. This even was attended by nearly 500 persons. For both Districts in Mexico, this was a time to give thanks to God for the vocations and Brothers that he gives us year after year. We ask God to bless all of them with the gifts of generosity and fidelity in their response to the call which God has made.
