KFARYACHITE - LEBANON - A DVD ON THE MISSION OF THE BROTHERS IN THE WORLD OF TODAY: The Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools is as necessary for the world of today as it was for the world of three hundred years ago. This statement is not simply an observation nor a remark made to encouraged the brothers and their partners. It is a definite and obvious fact as can be seen from its benefits throughout the entire world.  Is there anyone who hasn¹t heard of the Institute of the brothers and their mission? Inspite of the fewer numbers who are at present joining the brothers¹ institute, who will be so bold as to declare that the world has no need of our mission? Dear Lasallians, the world really needs you and needs your mission. Just look around you: the world is losing its sense of values: it is in real crisis. It depends on you to change attitudes and to restore their genuine meaning to the Gospel values. You will do this by the true witness and conviction to which you are called, so that our children will be brought up in a healthier world.

Yes, absolutely. Todays world really needs us. The pastoral team of our College of Kfaryachite has worked for a whole month to produce a DVD which is a real illustration and an artistic expression  of the importance of the Institute. It really shows the mission of the brothers. We have used certain elements of a DVD produced by the American brothers. The subject matter of this DVD is based on Kfaryachite and Deddeh, the two colleges of the Brothers in the north of Lebanon. Lasallian authorities, the brothers and lay staff have been a great help in preparing the DVD by their suggestions and comments. Several interviews have been included of staff in Kfaryachite and Deddeh. This expression of solidarity make the documentary vivid for us. These Lasallians express what they believe and what they think. There is plenty of variety in our Institute. A rich flow of benefits accrues from such variety, giving new life to those hoping for it and those who yearn for the love of God. Our presence is necessary. Can anyone imagine a world without Lasallians? It would be like a car without an engine.

This DVD documentary is divided into four main sections.

1. The De La Salle school is the core of our mission and service: it aims at respecting everyone and holds out its hands to educate persons.

2. In the world of today, there exists a real challenge in forming Christian leaders and there are difficulties over educating people about ecumenism, social values, respect for other religions and even education itself. It is a situation full of complexity.

3. Lasallians today answer the call to be present to the whole world and to live their mission in a variety of ways.

4. It is true: there is a genuine need for the Institute now and in the future.
