Blessed Ambrosio León

Pedro Lorente Vicente was born in Ojos Negros (province of Teruel) on January 7, 1914 and was baptized on January 11.

He entered the Aspirancy of Monreal del Campo, from where he went to the junior novitiate in Cambrils on November 7, 1925.

He took the habit on February 1, 1930.

After his scholasticate training he was assigned to the Bonanova School in 1932.

A competent and distinguished educator, he enjoyed a high regard among his students.

When militia burst into the school in 1936, he had to leave, as did the rest of the Brothers in his community. In Valencia he gave private lessons to young children but when, along with Brothers Honorato Andrés and Florencio Martín, they tried to work as teachers, their identity as religious was found out and they were arrested, summarily sentenced and executed.

Lord Jesus:
Our Brother Ambrosio was an eminent and prestigious teacher
because he set out to be such.
Both in school and in jail
he showed that he had a soul of steel.
Help us to set clear objectives for ourselves
and to fight for what we believe to be right.
We want to improve our world.
Help all teachers try to impart values,
hope, and commitment from their classrooms.
Help in a special way all the teachers in our school.
Amen.

Beatified March 11, 2001.
