Lasallian Volunteers
Lasallian Volunteers are men and women who work and sometimes live in community with the De La Salle Christian Brothers and other volunteers.

The Lasallian Volunteer movement offers a unique opportunity for an individual to respond to Christ's call to the service of others, especially the poor.

The response is an experience in the field of Christian education or related human development services.

During this period of service, Lasallian Volunteers affiliate themselves with the ministry of the De La Salle Christian Brothers, sharing in the apostolic and, in some locations, in the community life of the Brothers.

These web pages were created for persons searching for a short-term (one week to a few months) Lasallian service placement working with children or adults in special need. Whether you are looking for a placement in your own neighborhood, or want to see another part of the world, these pages may help you find a service site within our Lasallian network of schools and agencies in direct service to the poor. We recommended that you ask yourself the following questions before you review the Program Profiles listed below and choose sites to contact. You must be fluent in the language indicated in order to apply.

What is my motivation for serving? (idealistic, professional, spiritual, personal growth/change, research long-term options)
What expectations do I/we have of myself/ourselves? Of the site? Of the type of work?
What do I have to offer? (professionally, personal talents/gifts, strengths/weaknesses)
How long can I serve? Do I need financial assistance for my travel expenses? (note: Not all sites can afford to assist with travel expenses. However, when volunteers serve for a longer period of time, the site can usually find some financial support for travel expenses. Be sure to ask this up front.)
How can I best utilize the short time that I have to serve?

Lastly, be sure to read the Program Profiles below closely. Some of the sites have very specific needs and/or have restrictions on gender, age, numbers of people or time of year that they can accept short-term volunteers.
